…his sight was restored and he could see everything distinctly.

 Mark 8 :22-26

February 16, 2011 Bible Reading and Gospel

There is a type of blindness that we suffer at times – the inability to see distinctly what is wrong from right.

Abortion must be a personal choice. Same sex marriage is ok because it is an expression of love. Stealing from the rich. Being a silent witness because we choose our own personal safety over serving justice to strangers. We pretend to be blind on some occasions, we refuse to acknowledge what we see motivated by our selfish and self-centered intentions.

Lord Jesus, touch my eyes and cure me of this blindness. Let me distinctly see what is good from evil, what can please God from the things he despise. My eyes are the windows to my soul, may these windows be always witnesses to God’s divine love, justice, mercy and eternal glory. Amen.
