If he gives his life as an offering for sin, he shall see his descendants in a long life, and the will of the Lord shall be accomplished through him.
– Isaiah 52:13-53:12

On this day, it is a great benefit to be able to identify or understand the depth of all that Christ has done in order to appreciate the gift of salvation in its fullness. One of the great sins of a consumer-driven age is forgetting to be grateful for what we have. We are seemingly driven to desire and get more and more things and we forget what we have and we even forget that we are offered the gift of salvation, the forgiveness of our sins, free of charge! This is the greatest gift we can ever receive; let us never forget this truth.
Today is Good Friday — good because Jesus has done something good for us. He has died for our sins and now we have access to the throne of grace — the cross. What seems a tragic and ignominious event is, in fact, life giving and beautiful.
God the Father has shown us great love and this is the love we celebrate this Friday. God is good!

Lord, I believe that You have died on the cross for me. Give me the confidence I need to approach Your throne of grace and accept what You have done for me. Amen.
