This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.
– Psalm 118
|April 24, 2011 Bible Reading and Gospel|
There are two kinds of death for mankind – physical and spiritual. All of us are bound for the physical death. Whatever possible ways we make to preserve and prolong our lives in this world, we are all going to die. A hopeless thought.
But today, the Gospel tells us that Death is conquered. The promised Resurrection of Jesus Christ has been fulfilled. This is the greatest news of all. There is a New Life in store for us after all. A life beyond this present world.
The wage of our sins is death – spiritual death. Today is a call for us to resurrect with Christ by turning away from our sins. The physical body will soon and surely die, but do not let the spirit die with it. Let us keep our spirits alive with Jesus, by following His example of being ultimately obedient to the Almighty Father. Jesus took our human form but he succeeded in purifying it to be a worthy sacrifice to God. Jesus showed us the way by doing the seemingly impossible.
Jesus gives us hope. Jesus gives a new meaning to our lives. All He needs is our positive response to his invitation. Let us choose to be alive with Jesus! When the appointed time comes for his second coming, don’t you want to live again and to live forever?
Jesus, I believe in you, in your truth and light, in your words and deeds, in your death and resurrection. Jesus, I believe that you are the fulfillment of all the prophesies, you are the Messiah, you are God’s promise of salvation, you are my Lord, my Savior, my Redeemer. I love you Jesus. Let your love remain in me. Amen.
